Drawing on the University of Melbourne Art Collection, this exhibition brought together artworks on the theme of leisure and recreation. The exhibition traced this popular subject through the history of Australian art: from the Edwardian preoccupation with depictions of woman engaged in leisure pursuits to artists’ use of the convention as a device to explore modernist concerns such as the quality of light and the representation of form.
