The Vizard Foundation Art Collection of the 1990s began as an initiative to support Australian artists through the acquisition, display and promotion of their work. The collection consists of 124 works by fifty-one Australian artists. The artworks reflect some of the prevailing issues of the 1990s, a period of shifting cultural conditions involving an expanding field of practitioners and media.
Themes present in the works include reconciliation, globalisation, the environment, identity, and national and personal politics. This exhibition includes a selection of work from this popular collection.
Grounded—visitors to the Potter will need to be in peak condition as you will need to be able to climb the stairs to enjoy the museum’s current offerings on level 1 and 2. The Potter’s lift is currently out of order and advice is that it will take a few days to repair. Although not confirmed we hope to have it back in working order on Monday 20 May. Please plan your visit accordingly. We apologize for the inconvenience.
