    The Vizard Foundation Art Collection of the 1990s began as an initiative to support Australian artists through the acquisition, display and promotion of their work. The collection consists of 124 works by fifty-one Australian artists. The artworks reflect some of the prevailing issues of the 1990s, a period of shifting cultural conditions involving an expanding field of practitioners and media.

    Themes present in the works include reconciliation, globalisation, the environment, identity, and national and personal politics. This exhibition includes a selection of work from this popular collection.

With work from 1949 to 2002, the exhibition offers an in-depth overview of Avedon’s achievements in the art of black and white portraiture photography. In the show, instantly recognisable and influential artists, celebrities, and political activists including Truman Capote, Elizabeth Taylor, Twiggy, Malcolm X, and Bob Dylan are presented alongside portraits of the unknown or long forgotten. Coming soon, opening 6 December 2014
