• Sunday Live Music: Melbourne Conservatorium of Music Brass Ensemble Tour Launch

    Generously supported by a Global Atelier Grant and funds from the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music (MCM), a select brass ensemble comprised of students from the MCM will embark on an exciting three-week tour in July 2014. This elite group will perform in Sydney as well as multiple locations in Denmark and Germany.

    Join the ensemble for special tour launch at the Ian Potter Museum of Art on 6 July at 2pm. Nestled amongst the Museum’s collection of art and artifacts, the group will perform new works by Australian composers, classics from the brass repertoire, and popular favourites.

SUNDAY 19 APRIL Cinema Nova in partnership with the Potter’s exhibition Weird melancholy: The Australian gothic, presents a series of Australian Gothic Cinema. Peter Weir’s 1975 Australian classic, Picnic at Hanging Rock will be brought back to the big screen, followed by a panel discussing the film. Panel consists of screenwriter Cliff Green; actress Helen Morse who starred in the film; author Dr Brian McFarlane and academic/journalist Dr Mark Nicholls. Hosted by Carol van Opstal.
