Sister Corita Kent
Life is a complicated business 1967
Courtesy of the Corita Art Center, Immaculate Heart Community, Los Angeles, CA
Sister Corita Kent’s work borrowed text from signs, slogans, popular song lyrics, billboards, product packaging and magazine advertising, transporting messages of joy, faith, love, the power of God, and protest against the political crises of the times.
Join us as we discuss art that uses text, appropriation from literature and popular culture and the role of activism through a contemporary art lens with artists Peter Tyndall, Janet Burchill and Jennifer McCamley.
Wine and canapes will be served.
Due to an exhibition installation the Sister Corita film works; 'Alleluia: The Life and Art of Corita Kent: The ‘60s 1967' by Thomas Conrad and 'Mary’s Day 1965 1965' by Baylis Glascock are no longer showing. We apologise for any inconvenience.
